Contrairement au dc-SECM, l&#039;ac-SECM permet d&#039;\u00e9tudier l&#039;activit\u00e9 locale d&#039;une surface sans recourir \u00e0 un m\u00e9diateur redox ni \u00e0 un sel \u00e9lectrolytique. Cette caract\u00e9ristique en fait une technique tr\u00e8s performante, car elle permet de r\u00e9aliser des mesures dans un syst\u00e8me plus proche des conditions r\u00e9elles. L&#039;ac-SECM est utilis\u00e9e dans l&#039;\u00e9tude de la corrosion, car elle ne n\u00e9cessite pas l&#039;emploi d&#039;esp\u00e8ces susceptibles d&#039;inhiber ou d&#039;acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer la corrosion d&#039;une surface. De plus, cet \u00e9chantillon doit \u00eatre connect\u00e9 \u00e0 l&#039;\u00e9lectronique du syst\u00e8me, ce qui limite les \u00e9chantillons pouvant \u00eatre mesur\u00e9s. En mode balayage continu, la sonde se d\u00e9place en continu pendant la mesure, ce qui la rend plus rapide qu&#039;en mode pas \u00e0 pas.
